For the 1st time in many years 2 registered shorthair Weimaraners have produced long hair puppies, confirming that the parents, unsuspectingly, are long hair carriers (LHC's). Likewise there must have been LHC's through all the generations of their ancestry. 3 of the 10 puppies were long hairs, we took Ziggie in lieu of the stud fee. If 2 LHC's have a litter, (as in this case), statistically 25% will be longhairs, 50% will be shorthairs and 25% will be LHC. Considering that not many Weimaraners are never bred from it can be seen why the birth of LH puppies from shorthairs is indeed such a rare event. We find this 'chance event' very exciting and will be exploring the opportunities of establishing a long haired line at Ghostwing. For more about Long Haired Weimaraners, see our 'LINKS' page.
