There are 2 qualifying heats and a final each 3 minutes long. The average lap time
for both the qualifying heats is used to calculate the qualifying order and the top four guys
in each class go through to the finals but the top 6 get points. That means
that you have to get good results in both heats to stand a chance of coing to
the finals. The software stores all the stats and points in a database making it
very easy to see the standings in each class and in the overall
"championship".
Currently our "championship classes"
for 2003 are DTM, SCX F1 and SCX Rally where we combine the points of each
class and the
guy with the most at the end of the year will win a brand new slotcar. These three classes will be run every
week including the Open class. The other classes will be run fortnightly
(LeMans, GT and Ferrari Cup one week and Touring, Ninco/Scalextric F1 and Fly
Classics the
next). The reason for this is that if there are 10 classes with maybe 9 or more
competitors in each
class, you'll never get through all the races in one evening. With it
being a week night you don't want to go home at one or two in the morning. Our aim is to
try and finish by about 11pm to 11:30pm at the latest.
